From Greek Song

Dear member of the Network for the Study of Archaic and Classical Greek Song,

We are happy to send you herewith the call for papers for the second large conference of the network, to be held at Yale University in July, 6-10, 2011. There will be space in the programme for approximately 25 speakers.

It has been a while since you heard from us, but we have not been sitting idle. In the summer of 2009 the Network's first large conference, organized by Stanford University, was held in Delphi. The proceedings of this conference, edited by Richard Martin, Anastasia-Erasmia Peponi and André Lardinois, will hopefully appear in the course of 2011 with Brill as its publishers: Brill has agreed to give us a series for our (larger) conferences, similar to the Orality and Literacy series they have been publishing since 1994.

Last summer a core group meeting was held in Nijmegen, to which, as is the custom, local classicists (i.e. chiefly from the Netherlands) were also invited. You can find the programme of this core group meeting on the network's website (www.let.ru.nl/greeksong).

This website has recently been updated. It now contains over 50 pages of bibliography, and we would like to remind you to keep sending to the webmaster of the site, Anton Manders (greeksong@let.ru.nl) your publications (published and forthcoming), dissertations you or your students are working on, and events, related to Greek lyric, you would like us to post on the website.

We are looking forward to you seeing you, possibly at the conference in Yale.

All best wishes,

André Lardinois and Ewen Bowie
